There are many times in life when things get out of hand, when the situation is incomprehensible, when nothing seems to go the way I expect it to go. Although I try to keep myself calm, I start to imagine the worst case scenario, which makes me worry and become frustrated about things that have not even happened yet. Recently, God has been leading me to realize again that everything is in His hands, not mine. He shows me that I cannot do it, but He can. He lets me know that there are many things I cannot understand, but that it is okay because He has control over all things. Therefore, instead of having to pray anxiously, He gives me the heart to pray with thanksgiving.

November was a month full of Thanksgiving-related events and it was a grateful and heart-warming time seeing how our students give thanks. "I am thankful that God gave me mom and dad.” “I am thankful for having good friends." "I am thankful that I was not late to school." "I am thankful for yummy food." "I am thankful that we can pray at school."

God gives us His promise through the Word: "Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus." (Philippians 4:6-7, NLT)

I hope and pray that all of us can be thankful for at all times by holding onto the promise of the peace that exceeds our understanding, which guards our hearts and minds.

살다 보면 내가 통제할 수 없거나 이해할 수 없는 상황들이 생기거나, 내가 기대하는 것과는 다르게 상황들이 펼쳐질 때가 참 많습니다. 저는 차분함을 유지하려 노력하지만 최악의 경우를 상상하지 않기란 어렵습니다. 그러면 아직 일어나지도 않은 일들에 대해 염려하고 불안해하기 시작하지요.

최근 하나님께서 제게 다시금 깨닫게 하시는 것은 모든 것이 나의 손이 아닌 하나님의 손에 있다는 것입니다. 나는 할 수 없지만 하나님께서는 하실 수 있다는 것. 내가 이해할 수 없는 것이 많지만, 하나님께서 모든 것을 통제하고 계시니 괜찮다는 것. 그렇기에 불안한 마음으로 간구하는 것이 아니라 감사로 기도할 수 있는 마음을 주십니다.

지난 11월 달은 추수감사절 관련 행사가 많은 달이었습니다. 학생들이 고백하는 크고 작은 감사를 보며 저도 함께 마음이 따뜻해지는 감사한 시간이었습니다.

“하나님이 엄마, 아빠를 주셔서 감사.” “좋은 친구들이 있어서 감사." "학교에 지각하지 않아서 감사." "급식이 맛있어서 감사." "학교에서 기도할 수 있어서 감사."

말씀을 통해 하나님께서는 우리에게 약속하십니다: "아무것도 염려하지 말고 다만 모든 일에 기도와 간구로, 너희 구할 것을 감사함으로 하나님께 아뢰라 그리하면 모든 지각에 뛰어난 하나님의 평강이 그리스도 예수 안에서 너희 마음과 생각을 지키시리라" (빌립보서 4:6-7)

모든 지각에 뛰어난 하나님의 평강으로 나의 마음과 생각을 지켜주신다는 약속을 붙잡고, 언제나 감사함으로 나아가는 우리 모두가 되길 소망하며 오늘도 기도의 손을 모아봅니다.
